Hukafalls Jet seeks applications from charities for 2008 Locals Weekend funding
Hukafalls Jet has announced that their hugely anticipated locals weekend will be held this year on 8/9 November 2008. Once again Taupo locals will have the opportunity to take a ride on the world famous Hukafalls Jet for the unbelievable price of only $20 per person. All proceeds will again be donated to charity and the company will cover the costs of operating for the weekend, including fuel and wages.
Locals weekends at Hukafalls Jet have been part of the Taupo activity calendar for the past 8 years, and over that time, well over $60,000 has been donated to local charities and organisations to help benefit projects in the local community and more than 4000 locals have taken the opportunity to have a unique and up-close water level view of the famous Huka Falls from the jet boat.
This year, Hukafalls Jet are calling for applications from local charities that wish to be considered for funding. Up to three charities will be chosen to receive funding from this years event, and Hukafalls Jet Marketing Manager, Michelle Caldwell says they are looking for organisations that provide benefit to the local community, those who can demonstrate a positive impact for the Taupo region.
The selected charities will have an opportunity to promote their cause at Locals Weekend by providing entertainment and information to the hundreds of Taupo locals expected at the event.
“Our locals weekend is always hotly anticipated, and this year should be bigger and better than ever,” says Ms Caldwell. “Last year we had over 800 locals take a ride on Hukafalls Jet and we’re aiming to break that record once again, providing the weather behaves!”
Criteria for Applications:
- Charity/Organisation must be able to show benefit to local Taupo Community
- Charity/Organisation should be available to attend the Hukafalls Jet Locals Weekend on 8/9 November and provide information and/or entertainment for visiting Locals
- Charity/Organisation should provide details of specific projects that funding would be used for
- Charity/Organisation can demonstrate ability to help promote the Hukafalls Jet locals weekend to encourage maximum visitation by Taupo Locals.
Format for the weekend:
- Charity/Organisations to set up from 7am on 8th November
- Doors open for first jet boat ride at 8.30am, last jet boat ride at 5pm (both days)
- Locals will vote for their charity of choice over the weekend and funds will be split accordingly
- Event will be supported by local media and charities will be encouraged to promote the event to their networks
